Magic Coloring Book

This is a great trick for beginners.  It’s also a strong effect for kid show performers or for kids to perform.  It’s easy enough for a 5 year old to do if they know the secret.  There’s absolutely no sleight of hand.

A coloring book is shown to have all blank pages. Suddenly, with a wave of the magicians hand, pictures appear in the book, outlined in black. With audience participation, the magician takes the trick one step further. He colors the pictures – by magic. Now bright, vibrant colors have filled in the black and white pictures!

For a fitting finale, all the pages change back to their original state – blank!

When I did kid shows I would use 3 books and perform the Color Book Monte.  Two books would be shown blank whilst the third had drawings inside.  I would mix them slowly so everyone could follow the one with drawings.  However, using the magic secret I could make them wrong or right at will.  As a finale I’d show all the books to have pictures!  Then as a double finale I’d have the audience of children magically help to color all of the pictures.

Whether you use one book or three this trick packs flat and plays big.
